Should I hire a wedding photographer (who also does video) instead of hiring a wedding videographer?

I am seeing more and more local photographers including a “wedding highlights to music video” in the packages they offer.  You may be thinking, I can save money by going with this option and not have to hire a professional wedding videographer.  The highlight video is a very popular and is something that can be easily posted on facebook.com and other social media outlets.  {At the end of this article checkout a recent highlight video we did for one of our clients.}

What you don’t get with wedding photographers is they do not video the entire ceremony.  They can’t, they are too busy taking photographs.  They also do not place microphones on the readers, pastor, groom and singers, therefore you do not get good audio from the ceremony.  The reception coverage also is lacking as well.  If you notice the highlights video from wedding photographers, most of the video clips come from pre ceremony (getting ready) and also the times between the ceremony and reception when they are taking photos at another location.  And a lot of the video clips are choreographed by the wedding photographer.   There is nothing wrong with these highlight videos, in fact some of them are quite good.

BUT, if you want really want to relive your wedding day, hire a professional wedding videographer!  Remember – a 4 to 8 minute highlight video cannot capture your entire wedding day.  We offer complete ceremony and reception coverage in every package.

Wedding Videography is our Specialty!

The wedding love story video photo montage (included in our “gold wedding package”).  We usually have a bride photo segment to her choice of music and a groom photo segment to his choice of music.  This is followed by couple photos with the couple being interviewed.  The segment below is the couple portion of the video.  This is usually shown at the rehearsal dinner but it can be shown at the ceremony and or reception.

Be sure and watch in HD.

August 2016 Update!

Late Summer 2016 UPDATE

Wedding season is heating up for KC Video starting September 10th and continuing until late October (as of this writing August 24, 2016).

Cape Central Fall sports is in full swing and I am pleased to announce that KC Video has again been contracted to provide the video for the Cape Central High School All Sports Booster Club banquet for 2017.  This is a year long project that culminates at the booster clubs awards banquet in May.  This sports highlights video incorporates video, graphics, music and still images along with narration by local sports announcer Todd Bonacki.

Recently, I  received another awesome  email from a past client from the 2008 wedding season.  Here is the text from that email  –

“Mr. Campbell,
Hi my name is April Koerber & you videoed our wedding four years ago. (11-1-08). My little girl recently found our wedding DVD and we watched it together.  It was such an amazing feeling for our daughter to see our wedding!  I’m so thankful we have this DVD.  I just wanted to thank you again and tell you how amazing the video is!  You did a great job and I’m forever grateful and thankful to share these memories with our little girl.

Thank you again,
April Koerber (Morgan)”

I realize everyone spends more than they want to on a wedding.  Let me give you one piece of advice.  Weddings are expensive, so, please make sure all the moments are captured on video.  Have your wedding video done by a professional.  You will not regret it.   I feel the wedding video is more important than the wedding photos.  Every bride I speak to years after their wedding day, tell me they cherish their wedding video.

Here is a sampling from a recent wedding I had the privilege of  videoing.  What  a beautiful couple and wedding for the first day of fall 2012.  Take a look at this 1 minute and 30 second clip. Be sure and click on settings and watch this in 720 HD quality!

Awesome email from a recent client…

Hi! Last night we viewed the video of our daughter’s wedding from 11/xx/15. AWESOME!! You did a great job! I was amazed by the number of angles that the videos were taken from and the microphones that must have been placed in various areas! I was able to hear them say their vows on the video, something I wasn’t able to hear in church! And I was surprised that you had taken video at the gathering at the pub between the ceremony and reception. Either you were VERY unobtrusive or I was not observant, because I don’t recall seeing you there! And as the mother of the bride, I will admit the day is a bit of a blur ( and I only had one glass of wine :-)), so having the video to enable me to see what transpired during the day is a blessing. Thank you so much for great documentation of such a special day!

J
